16.05.08: profichip GmbH receives the 2008 Industry Prize for its innovative SODIMM-SPS

The first embedded SPS Module for STEP7 from Siemens

"Powerful, small and easy to integrate" - These are the properties of the SODIMM-SPS module from Profichip. Equipped with a multitude of I/O functi¬ons and communication interfaces, programmable in Step7 from Siemens and upgradeable up to 1MByte SPS memory, this module is ideal for all applications requiring a quick, deterministic and reliable Hard SPS in a small form factor.

Board controller, HMIs and a wide range of engineering applications benefit from the new control options and the integrated I/O and communication functions. The market acceptance and therefore the success of the end product are further increased by the support from a widely used SPS programming language, a familiar software environment and an extensive range of maintenance and diagnosis options.

Small in size, the SODIMM - SPS is ideally suitable for integrating SPS functions into existing products and/or for upgrading existing products. This enables the removal and complete replacement of existing programmable controllers. The activity input of approx. 2 watts, which is extremely low in comparison to conventional SPS systems (comparable systems need at least ten times as much), enables smaller configurations to perform the full controlling function together with lower overall production costs and this during the unit’s running time. Compatible with the most widespread programming language worldwide, STEP7, provides access to a broad circle of users, facilitating the export of this technological innovation.

The SME Initiative’s 2008 INDUSTRY PRIZE has, for the third time, identified industry’s most innovative products and solutions which distinguish themselves by providing significant benefits and a high degree of functionality.
